The snow level dropped below 2000ft in the San Francisco Bay Area on 12/20/98.
This occurs about once every two years. (Normally only Mt. Hamilton at 4213ft
gets the bay area snow). Below are some photos from the Monte Bello Open
Space Preserve.
I was greeted by freezing 29 degree temperatures at the first
gate of the Monte Bello Preserve. Toward the end of the ride, I actually
saw it drop down to 27 degrees but I was too cold to take off my gloves for
another photo.
Took some quick snapshots of a signpost on my way to
the peak.
